Employment question:

I have legal protection included within my household Insurance and faced with an employment dispute over the last year or so a solicitor was appointed to access my case. I have received an appalling service from them and the solicitor concerne was very rude and unhelpful. I made a complaint and stated that I would prefer anothor solicitor be appointed as is my right within my policy, this request was ignored as was my complaint and subsequently the legal ombudsman are now investigating on my behalf. However, my employment dispute is still ongoing and the solicitors concerned along with the Insurance Company are refusing to help me or provide me with another solicitor and I cannot afford to appoint an independant solicitor. Can they do this as I have paid my premium in full for a service that they are refusing to provide. I've not received any notification that they are no longer representing me and I need advice a.s.a.p.

I would have to look at your specific policy but this should advise you if they can do this or not.

In relation to your employment dispute, do you have a tribunal claim lodged? If so, there will be deadlines for you to comply with and you need to address this as there are consequences for failure to comply. If not, then you need to have regard to time limits for issuing the claim which are generally 3 months from the date of dismissal/incident. That said, there are insufficient details to advise on that. Feel free to have a free consultation with us - 0161 474 7111.
