Employment question:

My employer has recently transferred my place of work a distance of 40 miles away from home after working for the company in my home town for 12yrs. The company offered a small relocation package which due to family / mortgage commitments i've not been able to take. They initially refused to offer a redundancy package but have now backtracked due to threat of legal action to be taken against them. They have offered a trial period but i feel that they have made life so difficult for me that i am considering the need to resign. I've also just found out i am expecting my second child. What should I do?

very often, employers have a mobility clause in the contract of employment. It also usually states that they can relocate you within a reasonable distance. 40 miles does not seem that reasonable. If you could not travel it because of family commitments, then you may have a sex discrimination claim but this would need exploring in depth. Do feel free to contact me for further advice and assistance BEFORE you resign.
