You don't give much information, but it certainly sounds as though a solicitor ought to investigate the circumstances on your behalf and see if a claim would succeed. I am not sure how old your son is, but if he is under 18 his parent would normally deal with a solicitor on his behalf. If is over 18 he could do it himself.

If you want to discuss this at all feel free to give me a ring with no obligation. I am in Bristol on 0117 929 3251

It is very likely that the police will have investigated such a serious accident, and if so there will be a detailed police report, which can be obtained. This will give a great deal of information about the circumstances of the accident and details of witnesses. Each case will depend upon its own facts, though, so it is important to take advice from a solicitor who is experienced in dealing with serious road traffic accidents.

Your son will need substantial rehabilitation to make the best recovery from his injuries and interim payments are usually available in strong cases to cover the cost of rehabilitation, care, loss of earnings, new accommodation etc.
