Family and relationships question:
I left my husband after 25years of marriage, we have no children and we have sold our house and divided the remainder after paying of the mortgage. I have asked him for a divorce after 2.5 years of not living together in which he states is ok by him. What is involved in dissolving our marriage ? I am now unemployed.

You can petition for divorce based on the irretrievable breakdown of your marriage & 2 years separation with consent. The Court website provides guidance on how to petition etc.
You may qualify for legal aid so I would suggest that you make enquiries at your local CAB in the first instance. Should you qualify, you can then get advice on whether or not you should bring a financial claim for spousal maintenance etc. And perhaps a consent order needs to be drawn up to tie off the finances. They can also help you with your petition.
