Family and relationships question:
i recently split from my husband of 20 years six months ago and he is now living with someone else. I would like to get a divorce to try and draw a line under things but am worried about costs and the fact that we joint own a house together. He pays maintenance for our 4 kids (one is eighteen but still at college) but pays nothing towards the house at all, im paying the mortgage, redundancy cover, life insurance and house insurance. Where do i stand and how can i bring this to a quick end if he will not take his name of the mortgage and deeds?

The court has the power as part of the divorce to order your husband to transfer the house to you free of the mortgage. But whether it will or not in your case is not something that can be dealt with in a forum like this. The issues you raise are too huge to answer. You must - simply must - go and see a specialist family solicitor. Find one that offers a first free interview and good luck.
