My husband and i are trying to seperate and it is becoming nasty! I need to take out an occupational order against him but would struggle to pay solicitor fees! How much do solicitors charge?

Most private solicitors charge on an hourly rate. The amount can vary from £90 - £350 per hour depending on the standard and seniority of a solicitor. You also need to bear in mind that an occupational order requires attendance at court and so there is the court fee of £70.00.
You also need to understand that acquiring an occupational order is not so straightforward, especially if your husband is legally entitled to reside in the property, for example he owns it or is named as a tenent. Sometimes an occupational order can require nuemerous return hearings especially if your husband fights agianst the order. If there are domestic violence issues then a non-molestation order may be more suitable.
