Firstly a letter of demand should be sent to the company concerned requiring payment and threatening court action if payment is not made. Then you have two options. One is to to issue proceedings in a County Court or the High Court to recover the deposit. The other option (which is quicker and can be cheaper) is to threaten winding up proceedings in the Companies Court. If the company wants to stay open for business and clearly has no defence to the claim,it will pay up quickly to avoid the threat of liquidation.
