This is a common problem now that the CSA have greater enforcement powers ranging from deductions from earnings orders to disqualification from driving and imprisonment.

If they have not already obtained a liability order, I would contact the CSA and ask that they review the calculation on the basis that as that the debt is more than six years old they should arguably be prevented from claiming this money due to the Limitation Act 1980. At least this may open a door to negotiating on the figure.

If they have a liability order then you will need to appeal to the High Court which is very expensive and would be disproportionate based on your alleged liability.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
