The answer depends on many different things and you will definitely need to take detailed legal advice.
Whether you can acquire paper title to the land and the mechanism for doing so can depend on whether the land you are using is registered at the Land Registry, whether it has been enclosed, whether you have any other right to occupy or use the land and, in some cases, what you are using the land for.
The Land Registry (www.hmlr.gov.uk) have a useful practice guide, but I would suggest you gather your evidence and consult a lawyer, as the consequences if you get it wrong could be the loss of any right to acquire it.
