Accident claims question:

I am with a solicitor who has been intimidating me for about 6 months. Other solicitors agree she is handling my personal injury claim badly. I have made a formal complaint to no avail. No-one is likely to want to take on my case (liability admitted, prosecution of driver, proceedings have been issued). I am absolutely stuck. What do you do if you genuinely have a solicitor who is horrible to you - who can help me? It is destroying my life and that of my family.

If your claim is being handled badly, you should consider making a complaint under the firm's complaints procedure (every solicitors' firm has to have a complaints procedure and to provide you with a copy of it upon request). If the complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction you can take your complaint to the SRA (Solicitors' Regulation Authority). Also, you can always change solicitors; this is usually a very straightforward process and most solicitors will offer a free appointment to discuss the case and let you know whether they are prepared to take it on.
