Planning law question:

The council have said I need planning permission to home board dogs at my house and they say they won't give it retrospectively due to the nature of the business (dogs). Is there anything I can do to prevent me having to cease this side of my business?

Just because the business involves dogs does not mean that they cannot grant permission - I suspect that there are other issues, such as the potential for the dogs barking and causing a problem.

It might be possible to mitigate against these problems, but much will depend on the detail of your circumstances. If you have been boarding dogs for some years, then you may have a right to continue.
