Immigration question:

I am single, aged 65, and hold a British passport having been born in Britain to British parents. I am considering marriage to an Ukrainian lady who was divorced from her Ukrainian husband over 20 years ago and is now aged 60 and living alone in Kiev. We have known each other for about 6 years and she has visited Britain on a visitor’s visa several times, I have also visited her in Kiev and we have shared holidays in Egypt, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro. I have substantial savings but she has none but lives in an apartment which she owns outright in Kiev. She has a low basic Ukrainian state pension. If she came to live in the UK I would easily be able to support her. She speaks fairly good English. My question is that if we were to marry could she expect to be able to come and live permanently in the UK? What hurdles would she have to pass in order to become permanently resident and perhaps achieve a British passport? Thank you for your attention.
