we want to sell our house we have a buyer how much should we expect to pay for solicitors fees to swap contracts and would we be better using the same solicitor ie;the buyer and seller or separate ones

How long is a piece of string. You would both need to be separately represented and would both have to pay legal fees. You can get quotes for online conveyancing but I would never recommend that you choose your solicitor based solely on fees.
