Employment question:

I have just been made redundant after 38 years and have a contract signed in1992 stating about working for another company ion the same industry, no time limit on this but told its 1 year .if its the only job I can do is that legal to stop me dearning a living

The restrictive convenant must be reasonable and must not prevent you from earning your living. The Courts do not apply it so literally without having regard to all circumstances. That said,any solicitor would need to read the exact wording in the contract.
